Scores for Use of English are actually given a bit differently by JAMB than scores for other subjects. Comprehension, lexis and structure, oral forms, and essay writing are the different parts of the English paper. The essays are ticked separately as they are assessed with reference to grammar, whether the text is straight to the point, and if its content matches the question. Both the speaking and writing parts along with the reading and listening may differ in the amount they contribute to the overall score.
